Important Announcement
11/21/2024
Dear Little Lambs Parents, Family Members and Patrons,
My name is Michael Aguirre, Executive Director at Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church and Director of the Little Lambs Preschool Board. It is with heavy heart that I have to share with you that after evaluation, discussion and many prayers, the preschool board and our voter’s assembly have made the difficult decision to close the Little Lambs Preschool effective on or before December 20, 2024.
We are all very disappointed. When Shepherd of Peace established Little Lambs Preschool over 10 years ago, we never intended to make a profit. Our mission was to establish a facility to provide a safe and supportive environment where we could share His Word with the little children.
Despite our efforts to maintain balanced operational costs with affordable service rates for our families, we find ourselves unable to sustain these programs financially and remain competitive.
We have not reached this decision lightly and we understand the impact that this will have on the children, families and our staff who have all worked so hard with us through all of this. You are all family and we will continue to keep all of you in our prayers.
We sincerely wish to thank you for your prayers and understanding. As we work with all of you through this transition, the board will make ourselves available to visit with you for any specific questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Michael Aguirre
President, Little Lambs Preschool Board

LETTER FROM OUR DIRECTOR
Dear SOP Little Lamb Families,
I am delighted to extend warm greetings to the Shepherd of the Peace community as your next Preschool Director. My name is Brittney Wilson, and I am thrilled to join this wonderful school where curiosity, creativity, and learning thrive in every corner.
Allow me to share a bit about my background and passion for early childhood education. I am originally from the Sioux City area. I have my master’s degree in management with a double focus in human resources and leadership. I have worked with children off and on since I was 18. Including operating an exclusively overnight home childcare. Additionally, I have worked in several areas in the nonprofit industry. Including at The Warming Shelter and Siouxland Mental Health.
I never imagined that I would have a career in child development, yet, I keep finding my way back. In my experience, these foundational years are monumental in shaping the future of each child. What they learn today, will set the direction of their future.
I am committed to fostering a nurturing environment that stimulates growth and development. My educational philosophy is a mix of approaches that allow children to learn through exploration, teaches mindfulness, and encourages their independence. I believe in creating a collaborative partnership between educators, parents, and our little learners.
I am dedicated to maintaining the high standards of Little Lambs Preschool and Childcare Center and ensuring that every child feels inspired, supported, and excited to explore the world of learning. Together with our talented team of educators, we will continue to provide an engaging curriculum that caters to the unique needs of each child, fostering a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.
I am genuinely excited to meet each and every one of you and to build strong relationships with both students and their families. Open communication is key, so please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, or ideas. Let us work hand in hand to create a vibrant and enriching preschool experience for our little ones.
Thank you for welcoming me into the Shepherd of the Peace family. I look forward to a fantastic journey of growth, discovery, and laughter with your children.
Warm regards,
Brittney Wilson
